NMC Dept of Pharmacology academicians deliver lectures in NAMS sponsored Workshop
Aligarh: Jawaharlal Nehru Medical Collegeâ€™s Department of Pharmacology Chairperson, Professor Farida Ahmad and Associate Professor Dr Syed Ziaur Rahman recently delivered guest lectures at National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS) sponsored National Symposium/Workshop on â€˜Drug Safety Monitoring for Health care Providersâ€™ held at Shaheed Hasan Khan Mewati Government Medical College, Nalhar (Mewat) Haryana.
While speaking on evolving concepts of toxicovigilance and haemvigilance during her lecture Prof Farida explained the toxic effects of household products, agricultural products, industrial chemicals and toxic plants along with the role of Poison Information Centers in Toxicovigilance.
She also spoke on safety of blood products and transfusion under the National Haemovigilance Programme.
Dr Rahman spoke on the various sources of literature on Pharmacovigilance and discussed the significant contributions of individual researchers. He also discussed
WHO Collaborating Centre for International Drug Monitoring (IMC), various NGOs, National Coordination Centre for Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI), national and international societies working on Pharmacovigilance, and large number of publishers publishing literature on this topic.
In his lecture, he threw light on veterinary pharmacovigilance and the impact of Pharmaceutical and Personal Care Products (PPCPs) on environment.
JNMCâ€™s Department of Pharmacologyâ€™s Dr Jameel Ahmad, Dr Md Azmat Rana, Dr Irfan Ahmad Khan, Dr Zafar Masood, Dr Mohd Sajid Alam and Dr Asif Husain also attended the Symposium/Workshop.
