Weather seems to be playing truant with the prospects of the ticket sales. NFL playoff 2014 schedule, start times, bracket, live stream details. Winter storm seems to be affecting ticket sale

The threat of TV blackout has passed and the Green Bay Packers, Indianapolis Colts and Cincinnati Bengals have sold their tickets 72 hours ahead of their scheduled games, as the rule demands. NFL granted the three teams got a day extra to sell of their tickets.

As of Friday, only the Philadelphia Eagles’ game against the New Orleans Saints, scheduled for today, was the lone first-round matchup sold out. On Friday the tickets for games scheduled for today and tomorrow still remained. Early Friday Bengals had about 7,000 tickets left. The Colts had less than 3,500 tickets left ranging in price from $56 to $155. The Packers, who snatched a last minute win on the last day of regular season and earned the right to host the home playoff, had more than 5,000 unsold tickets yesterday. Their tickets were priced at $102 to $313.

However, by late Friday the teams announced by late Friday that the remaining tickets for their first-round playoff games have all been sold, thus avoiding the risk of a television blackout in their local markets.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said, “We had a Week 17 in which 13 of 16 games had implications on teams making the playoffs. Part of the excitement of the NFL is not knowing who’s going to the playoffs. It’s not as if teams knew weeks and months prior and had fans making plans.”

Today the Colts host Kansas City. Tomorrow the Packers will host San Francisco and the Bengals will host San Diego. The teams could not get all the tickets off their hands as the end of the day neared, so corporations like retailer Meijer in Indy, Associated Bank in Green Bay and P&G in Cincinnati stepped in and bought off big blocks of the remaining tickets. These tickets would be distributed to military families and veterans.

Last NFL faced a postseason game blacked out on Jan. 10, 2002, when the Miami Dolphins hosted the Baltimore Ravens in the opening round. Then in 2013 two regular-season games were not shown locally.
