NBA trade rumors latest news: Sacramento Kings’ Rudy Gay attracted to Toronto Raptors, update
Los Angeles: NBA trade deadline is just over a week from now and the excitement couldn’t have been higher. While the fate of many players has been sealed, many others are still not clear about their status in their present teams.
It is needless to say thay rumors are spreading at a rapid pace about trade of players. In the meantime Sacramento Kings forward Rudy Gay is a player whose stay in his present team is being hotly debated.
Now it is being said that the wingman may reunite with the Toronto Raptors before the trade deadline. ESPN’s Marc Stein claimed last week that the Kings are looking to trade Gay to other teams but they are looking for a deal that would give them some good players in return.
The report goes on to add, “Sacramento is said to be seeking a quality young player in return if it parts with Gay…Or a player they like with at least one year left on his contract after this season, which would give the Kings some insulation against trading for someone in February who turns around and leaves town in July.”
An aspect that must be kept in mind is the fact that Gay has been linked to teams like the Los Angeles Clippers and the Miami Heat. The linkup looks a little logical as both sides are looking for a talented wing. Stein tweeted that the Raptors are also looking to trade for a wing.
ESPN sources say Toronto is also interested in recruiting Suns swingman P.J. Tucker in advance of the February 18 trade deadline.
Nonethelesd despite all such rumors the Raptors are focused at Phoenix Suns forwards PJ Tucker and Markieff Morris, trading for Gay is going to help Toronto if they want to take over the East and challenge the Golden State Warriors. The Raptors are currently second in the east with a 34-16 record, two games behind the Cleveland Cavaliers. Things will become clear only on February 19.
