NBA trade rumors 2016: Miami Heat to show Hassan Whiteside the door
Miami: The are rumors doing the rounds that Miami Heat are planning to acquire Dwight Howard and get rid of Hassan Whiteside as soon as possible.
Miami Heat have actually failed to do as well as the team fans might have desired or anticipated. They have been left out of the top teams and are now struggling to keep their place at seventh spot in the ranking.
It is obvious that their not so great performance is not merely due to Hassan Whiteside.
To be true he has been doing very well throughout the season. On November 1, 2015, Whiteside scored a career-high 25 points in a 109–89 win over the Houston Rockets. On November 17, he recorded his second career triple-double with 22 points, 14 rebounds and 10 blocks in a loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. He became the seventh player in NBA history with multiple points-rebounds-blocks triple-doubles. If that was not enough on January 15, 2016, Whiteside recorded his third career triple-double with 19 points, 17 rebounds and 11 blocked shots in a 98–95 win over the Denver Nuggets.
In a latest report Sports Illustrated’s Fansided said that the Heats may not be a contender for the coveted NBA title though they have several key players in their roster. There are not many trade pieces for the Heat, but rumors suggest that they may deal Hassan Whiteside, one of their young players. Experts predicted that the Heats can be better off without having Whiteside on the court. The main reason behind this is Whiteside’s inconsistent performance. Another reason why Whiteside could be traded is his pending free agency.
Now there are reports doing the rounds that management believes an appropriate move for the team would be to acquire the center of Houston Rockets, Dwight Howard. Reports claimed that the player will be available in the trading block. In December last year, it was reported that Howard is not very happy with his current status in Houston as he is not getting same importance as James Harden. International Business Times reported that the underachievement rate of the Rockets have been higher compared to the other NBA teams and it is best time for them to trade Howard. It is important to note here that despite the NBA trade rumors, a straight swap of Dwight Howard and Hassan Whiteside may not be as easy as it seems.
