NBA trade rumors: Nick Young may go to Atlanta Hawks, Lakers searching for Kobe Bryant replacement
Kobe Bryant has made it clear that he is going to retire at the end of the current season. Though despite his presence, his side hasn’t been able to do anything good this season, the future of Los Angeles Lakers seems to be doomed in his absence.
The team’s fan base that seems to be very disappointed with the performance of their side is concerned that with Kobe Bryant gone, the team will find it hard to cope with the current and future crises.
Many people have deep apprehensions about the future of Los Angeles Lakers in his absence. But there are others who believe that with Kobe Bryant gone, the team can aim to reorient by infusing fresh blood and making a fresh beginning.
There are reasons that Los Angeles Lakers’ management is actually trying to make fast progress in this regard. The team management has to decide as to whom to bring on the place of Kobe Bryant. There are reports that as the Los Angeles Lakers are moving on without Kobe, they may have to trade one of the team’s valuable talents, Nick Young.
The team’s performance is a matter of concern for team management and fans alike. Right now Los Angeles Lakers are at the bottom of the Western Conference standings with a 3-17 record, indicating that the franchise is ready to rebuild for the next season. But as per Eric Yee of Lake Show Life, the Lakers should start getting ready for next season as early as now, and that means trading Young. A report by Baxter Holmes of ESPN says that Lakers coach Byron Scott is likely to not include Young for the next few games despite being healthy. It was reported that Young’s non-inclusion has something to do with his remarks about the Lakers being a “circus” due to Bryant’s excessive playing time that causes LA’s losses. But Young not getting any activities could mean a trade is about to happen.
In the meantime as far as trade rumors are concerned, Yee has recommended that one of the possible destinations of Young is the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks are currently doing well in the Eastern Conference with a 13-9 records. But the competition in the East is tougher and other teams are waiting around to make it into the top-eight. Young would rapidly improve the Hawks’ bench shooting problems and could fit well under Mike Budenholzer’s offensive system.
With team trying to make a fresh beginning, infusing young blood is certainly going to be helpful. Reports suggest that Lakers may actually go for a young talent like Tim Hardaway Jr, who has been hardly used by the Hawks. The ESPN trade machine put forward a trade of Young in exchange of Hardaway and Shelvin Mack. Hardaway could be part of the Lakers’ transformation process, but the 16-time NBA champ would perhaps prefer a future draft pick.
