Latest reports suggest that the matter is being considered at the highest level when it comes to Nets the team management. Reports suggest that the Netsâ€™ management and Joe Johnson have already held talks in this regard and may be close to hammering out an agreement.
There is no denying the fact that no one thinks that Johnson will stay with the Nets for a long time while some suggested that he may be bought this year. The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Memphis Grizzlies chased him with diverse levels of interest. According to a report, both Brian Windhorst and Marc Stein evoked the likelihood of buyout after the trade deadline on 8th February, 2016, in case the Nets fails to move him and his $24.9 million salary.
It is not the first time that the issue has come up for consideration. There are several reports suggesting that the Cavaliers looked at the option of trading Johnson. However, the Cavaliers have to trade both Brendan Haywood and Anderson Varejao’s contracts along with some amount in order to match Johnson’s enormous contract. But with the Cleveland Cavaliers converting Haywood’s paper into a Traded Player Exception, the Cleveland Cavaliers will not be able to deal for Johnson.
