NBA trade rumors 2016 news: Greg Monroe to be traded to New Orleans Pelicans by Milwaukee Bucks as trade deadline looms
Los Angeles: If rumor are to be believed, Greg Monroe of the Milwaukee Bucks is headed to New Orleans Pelicans. Though nothing is certain as of now, many long term NBA analysts believe it to be a done deal.
The report in this regard appeared for the first time in the Times Picayune. The report said that the Pelicans are targeting Greg Monroe of the Milwaukee Bucks, who are analyzing offers to almost every single player on their roster.
It must be added there that the huge 6.11 feet player is in huge demand at the moment. It is being said that the trade would allow Monroe to play in his hometown of New Orleans and it is going to be beneficial for Monroe as he reportedly wants to shift to New Orleans.
He is among the most prized player in the team right now. On July 9, 2015, Monroe signed a three-year, $50 million contract with the Milwaukee Bucks. He made his debut for the Bucks in the team’s season opener against the New York Knicks on October 28, recording 22 points and 14 rebounds in a 122–97 loss.
Reports suggest that being home is something which means a lot for some NBA players. Carmelo Anthony had been performing quite well for the Denver Nuggets, but there was a time when he yearned to be back in the Big Apple, so a trade was finalised with the New York Knicks. Monroe became a free agent after last season and at that time he coveted by several NBA teams. The Knicks hoped that Monroe would become their starting center and teach something to their first round Latvian rookie Kristaps Porzingis. Monroe, however, refused to accept any offer and rather decided to sign with the Milwaukee Bucks.
