NBA Trade Rumors: Los Angeles Lakers’ Nick Young may be poached by Cleveland CavaliersÂ
Cleveland Cavaliers are working hard to improve their lineup in the days to come. There are reasons to believe that the Cleveland Cavaliers are actually working hard to pick some good players before the trade deadline comes on February 19th.
If the rumors are to be believed, Cleveland Cavaliers are going to get hold of none other than Los Angeles Lakers’ Nick Young. Notwithstanding the fact that they have done incredibly well in the Eastern Conference, they are working on to improve their bench strength.
Reports suggest that Cavs are actually eager to trade Timofey Mozgov. The Russian center was taken as a needed piece for a championship run as the Cavs did not have a solid center. However, the atmosphere of the league has improved and the small-ball Warriors’ control has forced other teams to follow suit. As a result, the Cavs are making use of Tristan Thompson along with Kevin Love at the frontline more often. Thompson was given a near-max salary in the off-season and the Cavs are improbable to invest more money in Mozgov, who will become a free agent at the end of the season.
One thing that seems to have puzzled the analysts is the fact that who will Cleveland aim for in a trade? If rumors are to be believed, Nick Young of the Los Angeles Lakers is one. The logic is that Young has the talent and the confidence to shoot but he has been in a weak position because of attitude problems and lack of focus. These observations also applied to J.R. Smith, who was obtained by the Cavs in a trade. Smith had numerous on and off-court problems while he was still with the New York Knicks and his stock in the league dropped. When the Cavs traded for him, they were able to get the promising Iman Shumpert-as the Knicks found it difficult to find a team ready to take Smith.
It is now almost certain that Timofey Mozgov is the player that Cavs want to get rid of and go for Young instead. The Cavs risked and won as Smith became a treasured contributor for the Cavs. Maybe playing with LeBron James and being on an actual contender brought his focus back. Same is hoped for Nick Young. Things will be clear only on Feb 19.
