NBA trade rumors latest news: David Lee of Boston Celtics set to be ousted by his team
Is David Lee moving out of Boston Celtics? Though it is still not very clear, there are reports suggesting that Boston Celtics may be ready to trade David Lee.
NBA trade rumors are not going to stop any time soon. To be true till the February 19 deadline the rumors will continue to spread without pause. But right now a player who is most talked about is none other than Boston Celtics’ David Lee .
The 32-year old Lee was Lee was traded to the Boston Celtics in exchange for Gerald Wallace and Chris Babb last year as Golden State was seeking to offload his salary given his limited role on the team. He made his debut for the Celtics in the team’s season opener against the Philadelphia 76ers on October 28, recording 8 points and 5 rebounds as a starter in a 112–95 win.
Reports suggest that Boston Celtics plan to trade Lee before the February 18 trade deadline. They may also op to buy out the remainder of his contract, Bleacher Report’s Howard Beck reported Wednesday. It is notable that Lee is currently in the final year of a six-year, $79.5 million contract which was signed by him in 2010 with the Golden State Warriors, who traded the former All-Star to Boston last summer.
It must be kept in mind that rumors are not new. Trade rumors related to the veteran forward have been doing rounds for several weeks, and they intensified after Lee fell completely out of head coach Brad Stevens’ rotation in early January. In December it was reported that Lee’s expiring contract would be available for a trade. Meanwhile, Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge told CSNNE.com on Sunday he has had talks with Lee about his future with the team, and the veteran player is well aware of his situation.
