National Signing Day 2016: Grading and Recruitment Updates

National Signing Day 2016 was a great occasion for college football. The whole nation seemed to be eager to keep track of the development about their favorite players and favorite teams.

Aggies seem to be a team that is feeling excited about the players it has acquired. While the team has signed as many as 21 players, the one who is being most talked about at the moment is none other than Oklahoma transfer quarterback Trevor Knight.

Knight is a player who comes with immense potential, promise and great track record. Knight was named MVP of the 2014 Sugar Bowl when he led Oklahoma to a 45–31 upset of two-time reigning national champion Alabama. Knight threw for 348 yards and four touchdowns in a record-setting performance. Almost a year ago it was announced that Knight had obtained a full release from his scholarship and will explore his options to transfer to another school. Despite his intentions to transfer, Knight indicated he would remain a member of the team at least until the completion of Oklahoma’s 2015 football playoff

It is needless to say that by signing him, Texas A&M University has improved its chances in the tournament.

In the meantime there was some confusion in Texas A&M University regarding quarterback. Nonetheless the controversy was cleared up a bit on Wednesday with the signing of Nick Starkel and the visit from Oklahoma transfer Trevor Knight. The former OU starter famously beat Alabama in the 2014 Sugar Bowl, and will play his final eligible year in maroon and white.

Signing of the Knight was apparently the most important thing for the Veggies. “I count Trevor in this class, and he was the first and most important recruit we secured after the bowl game. He’s a man that has graduated … MVP of the Sugar Bowl, been on big stages and won big games…He brings experience, he brings stabilization and he brings a competitive nature to the position along with Jake”, said Sumlin.

There are also some rumors doing the rounds about coaching change, nonetheless Sumlin didn’t speak a word about it. “We don’t talk about staff stuff — we comment afterwards…There are things that happen on signing day across the country, but there’s no reason to talk about that. Today’s about these guys — it’s a big day for them. Stuff’s still going on … east coast to west coast — who knows what will happen”, Sumlin said.
