ALIGARH: United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Chairperson, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi will be the chief guest on the Annual Convocation of the Aligarh Muslim University and deliver the Convocation Address on February 16, 2013.

It was announced after the meeting, presided over by the AMU Vice Chancellor Lt. Gen. Zameer uddin Shah, which was held today to discuss various issues pertaining to the preparation of annual convocation.

It will be the second time that a lady will be delivering the Convocation Address of the University. The first Chancellor of the University, Nawab Sultan Jahan Begum of Bhopal was the first lady to deliver Convocation Address on January 26, 1925.

AMU Registrar, Group Captain (Retd.) Shahrukh Shamshad, while conducting the meeting, announced forming of several committees and requested all to cooperate in the smooth conduct of the Convocation.

The Deans of faculties, Provosts of Halls of residence and other University officials attended the meeting.
