may-16eChandigarh:  Inter House Fancy Dress Competition was organised by Mount Carmel School, Sector 47, Chandigarh on 16th May  at ‘Nirman Theatre’, Sector 32. Deputy General Manager, Fortis Hospital, Mohali  Sunil Ganjoo was the Chief Guest on this occasion. The day started with a welcome speech by Gurleen Kaur, the Head Girl of the School. After this commenced the Initiation Ceremony of the School Cabinet for the year 2009-2010. The Chief Guest pinned badges on to the Cabinet Members as one by one they marched smartly to receive this honour. The Principal then administered the oath of office to the student members of the Cabinet. After this the Cabinet Members joined the School Choir as they sang the School Anthem- ‘We Are the Mount Carmelites, We March on to Greater Heights ………’. Then began the much awaited Fancy Dress Competition in which the students of classes K.G. onwards of the School masqueraded as Press Reporter, Butterfly, Spiderman, Soldier, Milk man, Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chander Bose, Rani of Jhansi, Mother Teresa, Shiv ji, Krishan ji, Gandhiji, Cartoon characters etc. The wonderful performances put up by the participants was an evidence of the great potential that the budding talents have in them. This was followed by a scintillating Western Dance and a Bhangra performance by the students of class VIII – X and the School Bhangra Team. The Chief Guest then gave prizes to the best four participants from each of the six groups in the competition. A Vote of Thanks was proposed by Manav Sharma the Head Boy of the School and the programme ended with the National Anthem.
