Putting end for all rumors, Motorola Droid Razr HD and Razr Maxx HD are to get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean by the first week of December. Verizon has revealed the news on its official blog. The carrier says that the software upgrade will be pushed out to the devices in various phases that will start from next week. These flagship Android handsets have been long awaited to get the update. Verizon introduced the update to a junior member of the Droid lineup, the Droid M last month.

Jelly Bean will refresh the devices. You can enjoy enhanced notifications, Project Butter CPU boosting capability, Google Now voice recognition and a more intelligent keyboard thanks to Jelly Bean. Moreover, it is heard that Verizon will implement a set of carrier-specific alterations to the devices. Therefore, the updated Droid Razr HD and Razr Maxx HD won’t have Verizon apps like Video app and Color app. Instead, the devices will have a fresh accessories app and a video calling portal.

“Gone are the Verizon Video app and Color app, making room for a new Video calling portal and Accessories app,” says CNET. Further, the phones will feature a pack of Amazon apps that can help you easily consume Amazon various services. “The Droid Razr HD and Droid Razr Maxx HD also get the full suite of Amazon apps (Kindle, Amazon MP3, IMDb, Audible, and Zappos), introduced in the HTC Droid DNA,” CNET adds.

As per Verizon, it will take around 10 to 15 minutes for a user to get the setup file installed. And, it will be sent through OTA. Users can, however, go to manually install the file, which weighs at 276MB. For this, users can steer their Motorola handsets to Menu > Settings > About phone > System updates > Download.

Motorola Droid Razr HD and Razr Maxx HD
The Razr HD and Razr Maxx HD are simply the HD upgrades of Droid Razr and Droid Maxx. Motorola introduced these two advanced phones in Sep. and they were respectively released in Oct. and Nov. Both the handsets share many features and specs in common. First of all, they sport the same 4.7-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touch screen with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels at a better 312-ppi.

Under the cover, the Droid Razr handsets mount a 1.5GHz dual core Krait processor with Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon chipset, 1GB of RAM and an Adreno 225 graphical processing unit. The phones landed in stores with Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box. They sport the same 8MP rear camera with cutting edge features such as autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, touch-focus and more.

Well, similar to all other high-end phones, the Droid Razr HD and Maxx HD can shoot video at 1080p@30fps and they tout 1.3MP front snappers for the purpose of video chatting. Going by connectivity options, they come with exactly the same features. To begin with, both the handsets are 4G LTE compatible and they promise great speeds thanks to Verizon’s high-speed 4G network.

Further, the Droids have GPRS, EDGE, HSDPA, HSUPA and EV-DO Rev., Wi-Fi, dual-band, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and microUSB 2.0. Well, battery life is one major area that distinguishes the phones. The Razr HD has a standard Li-Po 2530 mAh battery that the company claims can offer talk-time backup for up to 24 hours for the device. The Razr Maxx HD, at the same time, packs a stunningly powerful Li-Ion 3300 mAh battery that can provide you up to a stunning 32 hours of talk time.

It is the time for you to wait for the firmware update. You may soon get a notification from the carrier about the OTA update to your handset. Yet, it should be noted that you wouldn’t necessarily get the update in the very first week of the update. Maybe, you will getting it later, because the update comes in various phases, not one-time.
