More young folks are killing themselves by hanging, suffocation: CDC
A latest study conducted by The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) claims that suicide rate among young girls and women is going up steadily in the US.
This is not the first time that suicide tendencies in the women has been studied. Merely a few weeks ago another study conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had claimed that middle aged men resort to suicide in the increasingly large number.
The study had claimed that people in the 40 to 60 year age group take the extreme step mostly due to financial or family reasons.
Now the latest report claims that suicide rate for girls and young women has seen a faster rise compared to young men and boys in the country. Overall, the suicide rate in the US has gone up by more than forty percent over the last several years.
The study also claims that as far as suicide rate for boys and young men is concerned, it went up too in the last five years and it is actually three times higher than the female rate for ages 10 to 24. In 2013, the rate for young females was 3.4 per 100,000. The rate for males was 11.9.
Despite being lower, the female increase has been faster and more dramatic.
