Miss Puerto Rico suspended for anti-Muslim remarks, apologizes, deletes Twitter account
Miss Puerto Rico, Destiny Velez’s anti Islam ranting has already cost her suspension from Miss America Organization. The organization has already indefinitely suspended her and there are signs that her suspension is going to be permanent despite her apology. She has also deleted her social media account.
The beautiful lass who represented her country as Miss Puerto Rico in this year’s Miss America pageant clearly offended millions and millions of people across the world with her reckless words.
She had sent a few tweets when famed Hollywood director Michael Moore posted a picture with the statement, “We Are All Muslimâ€. This infuriated Destiny Velez so much that she sent a series of tweets accusing Muslims of terrorizing the United States.
Apparently her comments didn’t go down well with the Miss America Organization, and she has been indefinitely suspended.
Michael Moore’s comment was in response to Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump who had demanded a ban on the entry of Muslims in the US. Earlier he had also sought the ban on Muslim places of worship in some parts of the US.
Moore’s response “We Are All Muslim†angered her so much that she lost her cool. Her rant began with, “Islamic god is NOT the same God of the Christians & the Jews.†She went on to add, “Muslims use our constitution to terrorize USA & plant gas stationsâ€.
If that was not enough she went on to add, “There’s NO comparison between Jews, Christians & Muslims. Jews nor Christians have terrorizing agendas in their sacred books,†she wrote. “All what Muslims have done is provided oil & terrorize this country & many others!!!!!!â€
Her series of tweets enraged people so much, not just Muslims, that even people from her country started targeting her for the nonsense she spoke. Destiny’s rant immediately resulted in major backlash, as she didn’t just offend the Muslim community. People from her native country were even calling her out with the hashtag “nonosrepresentas, which means “you don’t represent us.â€
Now she must be feeling very stupid for uttering the nonsense. The Miss America Organization immediately suspended Destiny saying “do not represent the integrity and esteem of our program, nor that of our board members, our sponsors and partners, or the National Organization.â€
Nonetheless after being suspended from the Miss America Organization she seems to have been made aware of the enormity of her stupidity. She later apologized for her tweets. “I apologize to the people I have offended with my words…I am first and foremost an #UpStander and as such I stand up against bullying. The last thing I wanted to do was to bully anyone. Again, I apologize to anyone who felt offended with my wordsâ€, said she.
