Miguel Cotto vs. Canelo Alvarez 2015 live: round by round and minute by updates
Cotto vs Alvarez match Saturday is going to be ferocious. Both are big hitters and the prospect of a good and ferocious fight seems to be a great thought for the boxing fans. After being annoyed with a big ticket farce in the garb of Mayweather’s last fight, boxing fans want to have a blast and the fight is giving them hope that it is going to be one such fight.
The fact that Cotto has teamed up with Fredie Roach, the famed boxing coach who has tutored Manny Pacquiao besides Amir Khan, has done him lots of good. Many boxing analysts have said that the coming together of the two will make Cotto one of the best and keep him on top for a long time to come.
There is no denying the fact that the 35-year-old from Puerto Rico has the experience and the arsenal to give Alvarez plenty of trouble. Everyone is pretty sure that age has not dented his power and not only is Cotto’s lethal left hook still a formidable weapon, but Roach has him back to boxing, moving and counter-punching smartly. He is not the stationary target that he used to be prior to 2013. This was the reason that despite being better fighter he was soundly beaten by Mayweather in May 2012.
Cotto seems to be enjoying the spotlight. “I’m having the best time of my career…Freddie has me believing in myself again and I am back to doing the things when I was a young fighter having success†says he.
On the other hand the 25-year old Alvarez says he is ready to beat Cotto. “I am prepared to win…We have been working on things to get ready for this fight and I know I will be victoriousâ€, says he.
There is no denying the fact that he is the best Puerto Rican professional boxer. He is the first and only Puerto Rican to win world titles in four different weight classes, and is the current lineal and The Ring magazine middleweight champion, as well as a former WBC middleweight champion. The Transnational Boxing Rankings Board currently ranks him as the world’s number one middleweight. He has beaten many top boxers in his distinguished career. The boxers who have beaten by him in recent years include Oktay Urkal, Zab Judah, Shane Mosley, Alfonso Gómez, Michael Jennings, Joshua Clottey and Sergio MartÃnez to capture the TBRB, WBC and The Ring middleweight titles.
