Microsoft’s Windows 10 Mobile release for older Lumia handsets not coming today: Update
If you are among the people looking forward to the launch of Windows 10 Mobile update for your older Lumia handset(s) you are expected to end up disappointed. For the last several days rumors are doing the rounds that the new mobile operating system version from Microsoft will be released on the last day of the month. Nonetheless these seem to be mere rumors and nothing else.
From December last to February end, it is more than two months and Windows 10 Mobile update is nowhere to be seen. What is more disappointing for Lumia handset users is the fact while Microsoft is putting in the new OS version in new handsets, the promised launch on older Lumia devices seem to be a mere dream.
In the meantime some news reports claim that Microsoft is set to release another cumulative update for the Windows Insiders next week, which means the global release of Windows 10 Mobile for all the compatible devices will be delayed further.
In the meantime there are some other updates too. Windows 10 Mobile build 10586.107, which consisted of a lot of bug fixes and small improvements, was released for Windows Insiders a long ago. It was expected that global roll-out of the stable version would also take place soon but there is still some time to it as Microsoft leaker @Core has posted two screenshots suggesting that Windows 10 Mobile build 10586.122 will be the next update for the Windows Insiders.
While it is not clear as to when owners of older lumia handsets will get new OS version we know which handsets are eligible. The free Windows 10 Mobile upgrade will be first rolled out to the Lumia 930, Lumia 830, Lumia 735, Lumia 640 and 640 XL, Lumia 634 (with 1GB RAM), Lumia 540, Lumia 535, Lumia 532, Lumia 435, and Lumia 430. So stay tuned.
