The software giant is reportedly working on a smaller tablet. Microsoft Windows RT 7-inch tablet vs iPad Mini 2 and Google Nexus 7 competition is going to be very interesting

Software giant Microsoft is all set to introduce a smaller 7 inch tablet. Nokia its leading OEM partner is also working hard to launch a great Windows Phone 8 based 7-inch tablet and compete with market leaders Apple, Google and Samsung in small, 7-inch tablet market. Nokia is on a high following the success of its Windows Phone 8 handsets introduced in the market a few months ago. The company has sold millions of its Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 handsets in the market and it wants to recreate the same success to small 7-inch tablet market too.

Microsoft, on the other hand, is also on the high after the successful launch of its second generation tablet/ ultrabook Surface Pro in the market. So far the response has been exceptional and better than anticipated. 128 GB version of Surface Pro went out of stock within no time and the demand for it still remains very high indeed. There is a waiting time of 2-3 weeks for 128 GB version of the Surface Pro.

The success of the Surface Pro seems to have prompted the Redmond based giant to think and plan a 7-incher that will run not on Surface Pro but on its Surface RT OS. Both Nokia and Microsoft are expected to unveil the 7-incher before the year end. Both Nokia and Microsoft are expected to unveil the 7-incher before the year end. Microsoft is ready to launch a 7-inch Windows Phone 8 tablet. Microsoft’s CFO Peter Klein recently said that the company was ready to design any product that its customers wanted. After releasing the Surface Pro following Surface RT, it is now the best time for Microsoft to roll out a small screen tablet PC. Along with it, Nokia is also rumored to bring out a 7-inch Windows tablet to via with the rivals like Google Nexus 7, Apple iPad Mini and others.

He dwelt further on the issue, though didn’t utter 7-incher. “We’ve done a lot of the hard work in the developer platform. We are well set up to respond to demand as we see it,” Klein said in a Q&A session at the Goldman Sachs Technology & Internet Conference. Well, he meant that the firm “was ready for all eventualities,” says TechRadar. Yes, the company is to offer different screen sizes from 4 to 13-inches. That is, tablet market is to get more amazing products with small screens and rich software platforms. Along with a Nokia 7-inch tablet, the Microsoft tablet can indeed attract more customers.

But so far there is nothing really known about the device. No rumors about its specs and features are available at the moment. Anyway, it looks that the device would come out as a direct rival to the Nexus 7, Kindle Fire HD 7 and iPad Mini. Microsoft really wants a good candidate in the small screen tablet market. “It appears even more likely when you consider that its Surface RT and Surface Pro slates sit right at the top the tablet market with price tags out of reach for many consumers,” writes Tech Radar.  Maybe, Windows RT will be the firmware preinstalled in the device; and if so, it will have an ARM chipset. The company’s ARM-based Surface RT and Intel-based Surface Pro tout 10.6-inch displays. It competes with Apple iPad and a set of other Android tablets with big screens. The new product will be rich with lots of other features and capabilities required for a typical 7-inch tablet. So, it might be a powerful contender in the market against its rivals.

On the other hand, the Finnish giant is working on a 7-icn tablet that will run on Windows Phone 8. A Pakistan event of Nokia has leaked the pics of a projected Nokia tablet for Windows. Some reports said that it was a 7-inch tablet from Nokia, but many other reports said it would be a 10-inch tablet. Anyway, the rumor has been there for a while that the Finnish firm is planning a tablet PC for Windows. The company sources have themselves admitted the fact many times in last months. But, following the Pakistan leak, Nokia has denied the rumor that it was the company’s new tablet PC. “That’s not a leak. That is a picture that simply shows WP UI alongside Win8 Tablet UI alongside Xbox UI. They are not Nokia specific products,” writes My Nokia Blog referring to Nokia’s comment on the developments. Well, but it doesn’t mean that Nokia is not working on a tablet. Surely, it is. The firm will soon be coming with its first tablet PC for Windows.

There are rumors that even other OEM partners are working on similar devices. Tech makers like LG, Asus, Huawei or ZTE may also launch a 7-inch tablet for the software. It is hoped that the upcoming MWC 2013 may take the Windows platform to new level. Some companies may showcase their fresh products for the year. Nokia is largely expected to bring out its Windows RT tablets at the event along with a new Windows Phone 8 phone the Lumia 1000, also known as Nokia EOS.

On the other hand Cupertino based Apple’s next version of iPad Mini is going to be much more better than its first generation Mini. As per rumors, the new iPad Mini 2 is to deploy its Retina display with a resolution around 2,048 x 1,536 pixels. It might be a 7.9-inch panel like its previous model. The screen size is also just opposite to the 9.7-inch size of its mainstream iPad version. With the Retina display, iPad Mini can easily beat most number of the current small tablets and even some Ultrabooks and laptops. Under the cover, the new iPad Mini may tout Apple’s new A6X chipset and better RAM. There is also a talk that Apple is working on a new chipset dubbed the A7 for some of its future devices. Maybe, along with iPhone 5S, the new iPad Mini may also get the brand new A7 chipset. Regarding internal memory, the new iPad Mini may have more options. There is a possibility that Apple may add a new 128GB model. Apple has just rolled out a 128GB model of iPad 4 for business use. It may lead the company to design a 128GB version of the mini iPad as well.
