Several new Microsoft Windows 8 tablets are rumored to be launched in. here we discuss their specs and features

Android is rapidly gaining impetus in tablet market. It is slowly stealing the position of iPad. It is at this juncture Microsoft’s Windows 8 and RT operating systems have sneaked into the tablet space. In 2012, we only received Microsoft Surface RT as a machine with the software. In 2013, the market is to get a line of products from Microsoft partners. As we can learn from reports, a number of tech makers including Nokia are about to emerge with their versions of tablets for Windows 8 and Windows RT.

Acer Iconia W700: Acer had postponed its Windows tablet projects by questioning Microsoft’s plan to launch own tablets. Some months back, Acer announced that it wanted to learn the market performance of the Surface tablets before rolling out its own models. The company’s long awaited W700 is set for release early this year. The device is expected to tout Intel’s Ivy Bridge Core i3 and i5 CPUs and a Full HD 1,920 x 1,080 display. As you can guess, it will be running on Windows 8 Pro, but it is not clear whether there will be a Windows RT variant.

Nokia Windows RT Tablet: Nokia is Microsoft’s official partner for making hardware for Windows operating systems. The company has already made two lines of Lumia handsets respectively for Windows Phone 7.5 Mango and Windows Phone 8. With Windows 8 and RT are out, Nokia is largely said to push out a tablet. As per reports, the Finnish mobile maker is to launch a 10.1-inch Windows RT tablet in Q1 2013.

Zacks Equity Research says that the Nokia Windows tab will offer cellular connectivity plus USB and HDMI ports. It is further said that the device will come paired with a removable keyboard and can provide longer battery life, says the Zacks Equity report. In the U.S., the cellular tablet will likely be distributed by AT&T, the second big carrier in the country.

Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2: It is Lenovo’s member to the Windows tablet arena. Though announced late 2012, the 10.1-inch tablet is to get wide availability in this year. It is a powerful tablet with greater specs and it will run Windows 8 Pro. “Sporting a 10.1-inch IPS display with a full resolution of 1,366×768, the tablet is powered by an Intel Clover Trail processor. The unit we saw was operating at 1.8GHz and was able to run several apps simultaneously without a hiccup,” says Tech Radar.

Samsung ATIV Tab
The ATIV Tab is yet another Windows RT tablet set for wide availability in 2013. It was also announced almost mid 2012 and it was the first officially announced tablet by an OEM. As per reports, some markets have started to get this 10.1-inch tablet. It is a Windows RT machine and it is powered by a 1.5GHz dual core Qualcomm APQ8090A Snapdragon CPU, Adreno 305 graphical processor and 2GB of RAM.

The ATIV Tab comes in 32GB and 64GB memory options. It mounts a 5MP rear camera with autofocus, LED flash and geo-tagging. You can shoot video at 720p@30fps with the tablet. There is a 1.9MP front camera as well. Anyway, the ATIV Tab will be a challenger for other Windows RT tablets including the Surface RT from Microsoft.

Apart from these products, we can expect a lot more tablets this year. Companies like ZTE, Huawei and Asus are also attached with Microsoft. Asus has already released its Vivo Tab. But, there is a better chance that Huawei and ZTE may plan own tablets to run Windows RT or Windows 8 Pro. If so, we will be getting a host of tablets from multiple companies for Windows.
