Microsoft has finally announced the launch schedule and price of Surface Pro tablet. The second generation Surface tablet will come to stores on Feb. 9 for $899.99, the Redmond-based software firm stated. With an Intel processor and full-version of Windows 8, it is more an Ultrabook than a tablet. Here is our specs review and observation about Surface Pro.

Microsoft Surface Pro Specs
The Pro features the same size of Surface RT. Thus, it sports a 10.6-inch ClearType FullHD display that packs a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and it is a 10-point multi-touch screen. The machine measures 10.81 x 6.81 x 0.53 inches and it weighs at 2 lbs. The Windows 8 Pro is the key attribute of the device. Its sibling the Surface RT runs on the stripped-down version of the software called Windows RT. What makes Pro different from RT is its support of all Windows programs and native apps.

Beneath the cover, Surface Pro has strong specs like an Ultrabook. The device is powered by a third generation Intel Core i5 CPU with Intel HD Graphics 4000 and 4GB of RAM. For huge storage capacity, the system supports 64GB and 128GB solid state drive (SSD) options. Like Samsung’s Note phablet and tablet, the Microsoft slate comes with Pen input. That is you can use a digitizer on the screen. It may be called Surface Pen.

In addition, Surface Pro shows off Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.0 and 42W-h battery for longer life. The device sports a couple of 720p HD LifeCams and front and rear cameras with TruColor. Moreover, it has a microphone, stereo speakers, a full-size USB 3.0 and microSDXC card slot for more memory. Touch Cover is the option for a customer to attach a keyboard with the machine.

Surface Pro After Surface RT’s Tepid Sales
The Surface Pro is to hit stores following the reports that Surface RT has been getting lukewarm response. As per analysts, Microsoft has failed to sell the desired number of Surface RT units because of many reasons. As per a report on The New York Times, which refers to a UBS analyst, the Windows maker could sell only one million units of RT in the fourth quarter of 2012.  It is when Apple could sell more than three million iPad Mini units on is its first weekend.

However, Microsoft has denied the reports. The company spokesperson told the newspaper that it had increased production of the device and it would come to more markets in coming months. “We’ve recently increased production and expanded distribution to additional retailer partners given the growing demand. We look forward to more customers getting hands-on time with the product as we continue to expand its availability in the coming months,” Microsoft said.

Anyway, Surface Pro is coming for a lower price from what was expected as its price. It was earlier said that Microsoft would sell Surface Pro for a price above $1000. Being an Ultrabook, it is the price one can predict for a device like the Pro. But, Microsoft has decided to sell it at just $900. As per some analysts, it was a move to entice more customers to the product after tepid response toward its Surface tablets and Windows 8, on the whole.

Conclusion
Whatever it is, Surface Pro is near to us. The device will arrive in stores in two weeks now. As noted above, Windows 8 Pro is the major feature of the gadget. Many customers wait for the device since it supports all key Windows programs and apps. You can run full versions of MS Office Suite, Xbox Music and other programs. For a nice price of $899, it looks that Surface Pro is a good device. It may be the first choice of many customers over Ultrabooks and tablets of other companies now.
