Microsoft Surface Pro 4 display driver issue solved thanks to firmware update
Microsoft Surface Pro 4 seems to have finally got a major fix that had afflicted its performance for some people. The software giant has come out with a display driver fix not just for Surface Pro 4 but also its sibling and the company’s first laptop, Surface Book.
There have been reports of both the pricey machines suffering from near-constant display driver crashes. The users of both the machines were complaining about this aspect despite being simply very impressed with the product.
Nonetheless there are some people who believe that the firmware update may not succeed as the Redmond giant doesn’t has a good record when it comes to fixing thing. Microsoft is yet to comment anything on Surface.com about the update, but looking at Device Manager on my Surface Book, it looks like the Intel HD Graphics 520 driver – which is the problem – has been updated to version 220.127.116.1126.
Microsoft claims that the HD Graphics 520 driver update (v18.104.22.16826) improves driver stability. On the other hand Surface Display Calibration driver update (v1.1.381.0) supports compatibility with the updated graphics driver.
