Microsoft Surface Phone to come with Surface Pen, high-end specs: Update
When will Microsoft’s Surface Phone arrive in the market? The question whether a Surface Phone will come has been replaced when it will come and now there are reasons to believe that it is going to be launched within a few months’ time.
Microsoft is reportedly modeling its next generation smartphones on its extremely successful tablet Surface Pro. Surface Pro 3 and Surface Pro 4 have gone on to be a massive success in markets across the world. The high end tablets come with specs that make the best of the best laptops look like laggards.
There are reports that Microsoft, after spending a massive $3 billion on acquisition of Nokia’s smartphone business, is going to kill Lumia handsets. Instead the company is going to launch a new line of handsets.
Leaks that have come out of Redmond based tech giant suggest that the new handset will give Apple’s iPhone a run for its money. The new handset will feature a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440×2560.
Earlier leaked reports suggest that powering the Surface phone’s screen is an Intel Atom x3 (SoFIA) CPU and 4GB of RAM, more than enough to make the phone work seriously fast. Storage options would start at 64GB and go up to 128GB leaving out the lower end 32GB or even 16GB options that some manufactures choose to sell.
There are also reasons to believe that the Surface Phone will also have other goodies to impress its fans. Surface phone could also include support for Microsoft’s Surface Pen technology which has been popularized by the Surface tablets and isn’t available on any smartphone currently. The Galaxy Note series of smartphones from Samsung have long included the S-Pen for drawing, taking notes and so on and it would seem that Microsoft is aiming at capturing some of the productivity market by including stylus support. So stay tuned for more details.
