Initially, it was doubtful that the Redmond-based firm would actually be creating a smartphone variant of their successful Surface line. But the doubts got cleared when the company’s Chief Marketing Officer, Chris Capossela, announced that Microsoft is gearing up to release a brand new smartphone that was hinted to be part of the Surface series.

There are many reports doing the rounds about specifications of the handset. Majority of the reports claim that the new smartphone would most likely have a full metal unibody design made with magnesium, aluminium, or both.
