edmond based company amazed almost everyone by showcasing an impressive laptop during its October 6 event in New York City. From analysts to rumor mongers, no one had the slightest idea about the impending launch of the Microsoft Surface Book and the products that were being talked about most included a wearable device and

Almost every reviewer is full of praise for the Surface Book that seemed to have come out of nowhere. Many are free to claim that Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4 or even its previous version Surface pro 3 can also be taken as ultrabooks as they come with impeccable innards and even beat Apple’s MacBook Air without much of an effort. Nonetheless neither Pro 4 nor its previous model were complete laptops and you needed other additional hardware to make them look like one.

Microsoft seems to have thrown a tough challenge at laptop makers with this top of the line product. This is very well endowed and a buyer can opt for a 6th-gen Intel Core i5 or i7 chip, 8GB or 16GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of PCIe 3.0 SSD storage – so this beast is screaming fast.

microsoft surface-bookDespite it being a complete laptop, it can also function as a tablet. It display can be detached completely from the base with the press of a button (even the tech behind this mechanism has a fancy name: one-button Muscle Wire detach mechanism), why would you want to use it folded backwards? For the simple reason that the keyboard base can include a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GPU with 1GB of GDDR5 VRAM. In other words, if you need better graphics performance, you’re better off using the Surface Book docked. Else, in tablet mode, it falls back to the Intel HD 520 graphics.

A review in the PC World while talking about the newest and apparently meanest machine says, “Microsoft calls the new Surface Book two-in-one the “ultimate laptop.” As a 2-in-1, it’s more than that. Undocked, the Surface Book is a massive 13.5-inch 3K tablet. Dock it to its base and it becomes a notebook capable of gaming, complete with its own discrete Nvidia GPU. And it’s twice as powerful as the MacBook Pro…All told, the Surface Book reminds me of the Chromebook Pixel: the premier example of what its ecosystem can achieve. Surface Book will command a premium price, as well: $1,499 for the base Core i5 model, $1,899 for the core i5 model with the discrete GPU, and $2699 for a full-boat Core i7 model with discrete GPU. Preorders are already underway, and Microsoft promises you’ll have it by Oct. 26”.
