It is going to be a happening year ahead for Microsoft. In the year 2013 Microsoft is expected to introduce Windows Phone 8.5, Surface Pro tablet and Surface Phone besides several other things

As 2012 ends, we can surely state that Microsoft has been one of the key tech firms of the year. The Redmond software company released a lot of new things in the year. We have witnessed to the arrival of Windows 8, Windows Phone 8, Surface RT, Xbox Music, and more. It has many more things to announce for the next year. Here we make a look into some products that Microsoft is expected to release in 2013.

Windows Phone 7.8: Microsoft is all set to formally surface out Windows Phone 7.8 intermediary update in January 2013. The WP 7.8 is meant for low-spec’ed Windows handsets and those that run on Windows Phone 7.5 Mango. Handsets like Lumia 900, Lumia 800, Lumia 710 and Lumia 510 will get the update. More low-level handsets will be released in future to run on the firmware update.

The firmware update is rumored to get a Start screen with three sizes of live tiles; small, medium and large. It will support twenty theme colors and you can enjoy many other attributes of Windows Phone with it.

Windows Phone 8.5: The current Windows Phone 8 Apollo is evidently to get a Plus version next year. As per rumors, Microsoft is about to start working on Windows Phone 8.5 Apollo Plus by solving all the issues with the current version. Some reports suggest that Microsoft may show off the firmware update at the Mobile World Congress 2013 in Barcelona.

Surface Pro: Microsoft launched the ARM-based Surface RT in 2012 with Windows RT. The device is to get its elder brother the Surface Pro with Windows 8 Pro early next year. Surface Pro is equipped with an Intel dual core processor, 4GB of RAM and a 10.6-inch ClearType Full HD and more.

The tablet was earlier expected to have a price more than $1000. But, some reports recently pointed that Microsoft may price it a bit lower in order to attract more customers toward it. Microsoft was shocked to see that Surface RT received a lukewarm response in market.

Surface Phone: There has been a report that Microsoft is to release a Surface Phone based on Windows Phone. Currently, only Microsoft OEMs develop phones. As per a recent rumor, Microsoft has made a deal with Foxconn to build an exclusive Surface branded phone.

Xbox Tablet: A 7-inch Xbox tablet is also expected from Microsoft next year. The device will compete with Google Nexus 7, Apple iPad Mini, Amazon Kindle Fire HD and other small tablets. As its name indicates, the device will be an Xbox gaming friendly tablet as well.

Xbox 720: The whole gaming industry is waiting for Xbox 720, the next major upgrade to the Xbox 360. Eight years after its original’s release, Xbox fans eagerly look for the 720 upgrade in 2013. But, Microsoft, while releasing Xbox 360 in 2005, said that it would only roll out an upgrade for its after ten years.

As per rumors, most likely Microsoft will release Xbox 720 by late 2013. It is expected to include “the Forteleza Kinect Glasses project we’ve heard about, which seems to combine Google Glasses-style augmented reality with 3D screens,” says Tech Radar.

Office 2013: Microsoft Office 2013 is already available on Surface RT and for businesses. Next year, it will be available for grabs for public. It will be working well with Windows 8’s Metro-style user interface and style.

Xbox Music: Microsoft’s Xbox Music service was officially announced this year. But, it will appear on more gadgets next year. It will come on Windows Phone so that you can run it on phones, tablets and other devices.
