Microsoft Band 2.0 launch expected today: Microsoft event, time, live blog details
Microsoft Band 2 is certain to be released by Redmond’s tech giant within the next few hours in New York. The world seems to be awaiting the arrival of Microsoft’s next generation health band with bated breath.
Despite Microsoft trying its best to sell its first generation version to the world, the Band failed to make any worthwhile impact on the market in the last one year.
Now Band fans and market analysts are wondering if the Cupertino based tech giant will be able to actually make any impact in the market. Will it be able to improve the band to a level where it becomes competitive and gives some sort of fight to established market leaders.
A report while detailing the Microsoft Band 1st version’s sales performance says, “Indicative of how the Band is faring compared to other wearables in the market these days, based on the inaugural report of the IDC, FitBit and Apple led the pack, shipping 4.4 million and 3.6 million units, respectively, of their own smart wearable products…Samsung was at No. 5, having moved 600,000 units followed by Jawbone and Huawei. Microsoft was not even on the top seven vendors of smart wearables, which means the sale of the Band is way below than both projections and expectationsâ€.
In the meantime images leaked on social media suggest that the Band 2.0 will come with curved screen. The first version had almost flat display that made it difficult for wearers to tolerate. It is expected to continue to function chiefly as a fitness-monitoring wearable, potentially with new sensors such as GPS to track your exercise and it should, inevitably, be powered by Windows 10.
Microsoft’s event takes place on October 6th at 10 a.m. EST, and we’ll be here to bring you all the details about the company’s new announcements.
