Micromax gearing up to launch a budget phone to kill Xiaomi Redmi 2 with 8MP snapper at Rs6k
Micromax that seems to be growing extremely fast till last year seems to have been impacted by the sudden spurt of several companies in the Indian market. Motorola, Xiaomi and now Lenovo handsets seem to have badly impacted the whole planning of the smartphone vendor that controls around 20 percent of the smartphone market share.
The fact that Xiaomi, Motorola and now Lenovo are concentrating on the market segment on which the company had complete control till mid-2015.
But Xiaomi seems to have completely changed the dynamics by launching several handsets in the market that not just look better, but also are value for money. Redmi 2 doesn’t have any serious competitor in the market now and the company will be able to sell as many handsets as it may desite. The only issue with it is how many units it can supply in the Indian market.
Now, in order to take care of this issue, Micromax is all set to come out with a budget smartphone before the end of April in partnership with online retailer Snapdeal. On its official Twitter page, Micromax tweeted out a teaser of its upcoming product.
A Times of India report, in the meantime, says that the new smartphone will be priced at around Rs 6,000. The TOI report says that the handset will come with a display size or around 4.3-inch to 5-inch and will come with a powerful quad core processor. The handset will probably have 8 mega pixel rear camera and 2 mega pixel front facing camera as is the case with Xiaomi Redmi 2.
