Mexico vs. Jamaica: Gold Cup 2015 Final Score, Stats, Highlights and Twitter Reactions

This was a match that was expected to go the way it actually went. There was no denying the fact that Mexico were the favorites to win the final of a listless Gold Cup 2015.

Jamaica, notwithstanding the fact that it came with superb performance in the tournament and was able to beat a very good looking US men’s soccer team in semifinals was actually no match for the mighty Mexico.

Though Jamaica were able to give some tough moment to Mexico in the first half of the match, they looked lost and were completely dominated by Mexico in the second half of the final. And finally Mexico were able to beat Jamaica by 3-1.

gold cup 2015 soccerMexico showed their intention from the very beginning of the match. The team that was ousted from Copa America 2015 in group stage last month started attacking early and was relentless throughout the duration of the match. Andrés Guardado scored a first half goal to give Mexico a 1-0 lead going into halftime.

If that was not enough, they tried to make Jamaica look miserable. And at very opportune time Mexico’s Jesus Corona found the back of the net to give Mexico a comfortable 2-0 lead. And then before too long another goal by Oribe Peralta gave the soccer giant from the region commanding lead in the match. Though Jamaica still didn’t give up and got a solitary goal towards the end of the second half, but then it was too little and too late.

There is no denying the fact that the Caribbean side didn’t show the same fighting spirit that was visible against the USA. They never responded to Mexico’s early goal. Even though it ended, Jamaica had an impressive Gold Cup run marked by upsetting the United States.
