Shahid Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor floor audience with their stellar performance in Mausam. Here is movie review:
Shahid and Sonam Kapoor starrer Mausam has finally hit the theaters. It was set to be launched last week, but was delayed due to some objections from Indian Air Force. There were no open words from IAF on the issue but we were told and we believed so.
Going by the frenzy surrounding it, we can easily expect it to be a huge hit in the coming days. But as they say the taste of the pudding is in the eating, so allow the viewers to make an opinion about the film in the next few days.
But given the sort of media it has got in the last two weeks or so, the houseful board must be visible in almost every theater showing the movie. If this is not the case, then the film seems to have already lost half the fight.
The film that stars Anupam Kher besides the lead actors Shahid Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor has been called to be a mess by none other than Masand, the leading Bollywood critic. While writing in one of his film reviews, Masand says, “Pankaj Kapur’s ‘Mausam’ is an unfortunate mess of a movie about a pair of young lovers who spend more time apart than togetherâ€.
The film apart from its reported chemistry between Shahid and Sonam, both belonging to Mumbai’s Kapoors has another interesting turn and that seems to have given the whole lot of media attention. During the course of the making of film Shahid Kapoor flew in an American F-16 fighter at the AeroIndia 2011 military-cum-civil aviation trade expo.
‘It was a thrilling experience, that helped me in the role as a fighter pilot in ‘Mausam’,’ said Shahid after a 40-minute sortie at the Indian Air Force (IAF) air base near Yelahanka, about 20 km from the city.
The F-16IN Super Viper was flown by Lockheed Martin’s test pilot Paul ‘Bear’ Randall on mission mode and was escorted by another F-16 flown by test pilot Jim Hedges and a US Air Force pilot.‘Though Kapoor didn’t take controls of the aircraft mid-air, the flight was operated on mission mode for about 40 minutes with AESA (Active Electronically Scanned Array) radar.
‘It was a huge honour and privilege to fly such a magnificent aircraft. I wanted to have real-time experience of flying a fighter before action in the movie,’ the 30-year-old actor said. A couple of hours before the take-off, Kapoor was familiarised with the operations of the aircraft and made to ‘fly’ it in a simulator by Lockheed Martin’s test pilots and engineers.
‘I have been preparing for this event with rigorous training over the last one month. The tests included flying at a very high velocity and making sure I would not suffer from motion sickness,’ Kapoor recalled.
Meanwhile talking about the film and romance in it, the film has a fresh look. Both Sonam and Shahid look as live and full of energy as ever. The romance in film begins in a small hamlet in North India where a Muslim Kashmiri girl Ayat and Punjabi boy Harry fell in love after meeting.
The film has very critical moments including the demolition of Babri Masjid that ignites communal passion across the nation and then other incidents spread over years including Indo-Pak tension following Kargil intrusion orchestrated by General pervez Musharraf and then infamous Gujarat riots.
