Maruti Ertiga launch date has finally arrived. it is being released on April 12. Meanwhile the car will be priced between Rs 700000 to 900000
Mumbai: It is making waves for months and there is great excitement across the country before its actual introduction in the market two days from now. Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is going to be introduced in the India market on March 2012.
Ertiga will be the first all new brand from Japanese car giant in the Indian market in a very long time. The last time they introduced a new car was Maruti Alto K that was introduced a few years ago on the Indian roads. Later the company introduced a tweaked version of its hottest selling Maruti Suzuki Swift with some small improvements. But the ‘improved’ car basically meant higher prices and some small changes in the car design and nothing more. Later the company also introduced a shorter Swift Dzire in the market with smaller boot space.
Though the small changes gave Swift a better look, the smaller size of Swift Dzire made the car look a bit very awkward. But the reduced price and great performance the car is still attracting lots of orders from excited customers who are happy to pay around d Rs 25000 less for the car.
The latest car from Maruti’s stable will be the Japanese car manufacturer’s 14th model in the Indian market. Experts are of the view that the powerful Ertiga will be crucial to the company’s aim of reclaiming the market share it lost last year due to production problems and adverse market conditions. The Japanese car manufacturer had enjoyed around 45 per cent share of the Indian car market till labor problems started affecting its production in several of the car manufacturers’ plants in India. Now the company seems to have overcome the labor union issues and by launching new and improved models the company is trying to reclaim its lost share in the market.
The new car despite its bigger size will give a lot better fuel efficiency than even many of the smaller cars. Its petrol version will give 16 kilometer average per liter while its diesel will deliver mileage of 20.77 kmpl.
By entering multi utility vehicle (MUV) market the company is targeting a very fast expanding market segment. A senior company official says “MUVs today account for 14 per cent of the passenger vehicle market in India. The category has registered a compounded annual growth rate of 25 per cent over three years. With the Ertiga, we want to create a new segment of compact MUVs, which can meet the requirements of customers for both personal and commercial use. It will complete the portfolio of products we have on offer in India.†I am sure with a winner in hand, the company can expect to take a slice of the MUV market as well in the days to come.
