Marijuana is bad for almost everyone. But there are some exceptional cases when it has great impact and a latest study claims that it is the best thing for children suffering from epilepsy.
Kids who suffer seizures very often seem to improve a lot when given marijuana extract. Many kids suffering from epilepsy are given marijuana extract and this ‘medication’ actually helps them improve tremendously.
Dr. Linda Laux of Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago, while talking about the study and its impact says, “They had better sleep, better attention, better cognitive concentration, better behavior. Some of the kids clearly became more verbal, better coordinationâ€.
Kids suffering from higher number of seizures are usually given a marijuana liquid extract called Epidiolex. Researchers claim that the medication actually does not contain THC, the ingredient that can cause euphoria, anxiety and paranoia.
The medication seems to have miraculous impact on the kids who were given the marijuana extract. Researchers claim that as many as hundred and thirty-seven children and young adults, average age 11, were given the drug. Researchers claim that after 12 weeks of medication’s use, parents reported the number of seizures declined 45 to 50 percent. Dr. Linda Laux says, “I had one child who started walking while they were using the medicationâ€.
