A latest study has revealed that ‘Love hormone’ oxytocin helps men to eat less and thus shed weight. Researchers have come out with findings that may have far reaching repercussions as far as fighting obesity is concerned.

They claim that a nasal spray containing a ‘love hormone’ oxytocin actually prompts men to consume less calories. They claim that in the course of their study, they actually used synthetic version of oxytocin and add that it gave them very encouraging results.

While talking about the latest study Dr. Elizabeth Lawson, an assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School said, “Our results are really exciting…Further study is needed, but I think oxytocin is a promising treatment for obesity and its metabolic complications.”

obesityResearchers are also of the view that the actual “love hormone” released during sex and cuddling also help in losing weight and keeping you in shape.

Researchers are of the opinion that people who consume a synthetic oxytocin nasal spray ate less even when served a supersized breakfast.

But the small size of sample may come into criticism by many. The 25 male participants had an average age of 27. Though 13 of the participants had a healthy weight, other 12 were obese. Scientists gave them single dose of the chemical or a placebo after fasting.
