Las Vegas Strip Crash latest update: it was not a terrorist attack, say officials

The Las Vegas Strip saw a major car accident Sunday night when a car driver hit as many as 37 people. One person was killed, while the driver of the killer car, reportedly a woman, has been taken into custody.

Las Vegas police in the meantime has asked people to avoid the area where the accident took place.

Las Vegas Police in a tweet said, “Major accident on S. Las Vegas Blvd., please avoid the area. SLVB closed between Harmon and Flamingo while we investigate”. The area has been completely blocked of and all the people injured have been shifted to hospital.Las Vegas Strip Crash Kills 1

Fire officials in the meantime have said that at least 7 people out of the thirty seven who have received injuries are in critical condition. They have said that as many as 37 people have been provided medical care thus far.

Thus far it is not clear if the incident was an accident or was done intentionally. The driver has been taken into custody and was undergoing various tests, including one for alcohol.

CNN while quoting a witness said, “Everyone was running … and as I was running, I saw a car up on the sidewalk coming toward us…I saw a lady, she didn’t seem like she wanted to stop the car, she had both hands on her wheel and she was looking straight forward…I saw men running after her, yelling, ‘stop, stop!’ As she was passing, we saw people running after her. Everyone was so frantic and just running around.”
