Almost daily one or two tablets are being launched in the Indian market. But Kobian Mercury mTab seems overpriced at Rs. 7,799
This is yet another tablet from Kobian and seems to be coming with rather decent specifications. The penetration of tablets in the Indian market is still very low, like the smartphone, and so more low-end entry level tabs from different companies are welcome.
Mercury mTab from Kobian comes with just entry level specifications, though I feel they could have put in some better specs inside the 7-inch body of the tablet. The handset comes with 7-inch capacitive touch screen, 800 x 480 pixel resolution, Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, 1.2GHz Cortex A8 processor, 512MB of RAM, 2MP main and VGA secondary cameras, 4GB internal memory, expandable up to 32GB and 2,400mAh battery.
The handset can be pre-order for Rs. 7,799 on the website of the vendor and it is also going to be available on other retailing website in the country in the days to come. The handset is expected to be available on the website and in store beginning 25th May.
With tablets becoming increasingly affordable in the country, there is hope that its sales are going to shoot pretty soon. Several other tablet vendors in the country including Karbonn, Micromax and Lava have managed to launch even better handsets in the market. Then there are other tabs that come equipped with Android 4.1 or 4.2 Jelly Bean. Compared to them Ice Crean Sandwich seems really way behind in functioning and ease of the use. The good thing is its i.2 GHz quad core processor that will make its hasslefree running very possible.
