Khizr Khan Reminds Donald Trump of Son Humayun Khan’s Sacrifice – Watch Video
Cap. Humayun Khan who laid his life for his adopted homeland, United States, in Iraq was remembered during the Democratic National Convention held in Philadelphia.
While initially the Democrats were looking a house badly divided, towards the end of the DNC 2016, there was a semblance of unity and poise.
This was in sharp contrast to Republican convention where Ted Cruz, the main challenger of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump refused to endorse the eventual nominee. In marked contrast, Bernie Sanders, who gave very tough fight to the Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton till the end of the primary season is standing solidly behind the former secretary of state.
Cap. Humayun Khan’s father Khizr Khan not just spoke during the DNC he also told Donald Trump point blank that he hadn’t sacrificed anything for the nation. While speaking during the convention Khizr Khan said “You have sacrificed nothing”.

Donald Trump who has said that he will ban the entry of Muslim in the US was the focus of Khan’s speech from the Democratic National Convention stage. “Do not take this election lightly. This is an historic election and I request you to honor the sacrifice of my son” said Khizr Khan. While waving a copy of the U.S. Constitution in the air Khan further said “Donald Trump, have you even read the constitution? I will gladly lend you my copy.”
Khan was not the only person to attack Donald Trump. From Hillary Clinton to the US President Barack Obama everyone lampooned him for his divisive rhetoric throughout the primary season and even now.
Another prominent Muslim face in the US and basketball great Kareem Abdul Jabbar also spoke during the Democratic Convention. “If it was up to Donald Trump, [Humayun] never would have been in America…Donald Trump consistently smears the character of Muslims… He vows to build walls and ban us from this country.”
While introducing Khan, Hillary Clinton said that Khizr Khan’s son was an Army captain born in the United Arab Emirates, who moved to Maryland as a small child, graduating from the University of Virginia before enlisting in the U.S. Army. In June 2004, Humayun Khan was serving in Iraq, and his infantry unit was guarding the gates of its base, when a suspicious vehicle appeared. “Captain Khan told his troops to get back, but he went forward. He took 10 steps toward the car,” said Clinton in the video. The car exploded, killing Khan, but the rest of the troops were saved because he stepped forward.
