Reports suggest that Karan Johar is planning to make ‘Bombay Talkies’ sequel with Zoya Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap and Dibaker to mark 100 years of Indian cinema

Filmmaker Karan Johar could not resist talking about his love for cinema, which will come alive all over again with Bombay Talkies. KJo says that ace film makers like himself, Zoya Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap and Dibakar Banerjee have come together to create magic to mark 100 years of Indian cinema. KJo said that the film is aimed at showcasing the centenary of the Indian Cinema and is under production.

Karan was reported as saying that the focal endeavor of Bombay Talkies was to echo the celebration of cinema.

He also added that he desired to make a sequel to Bombay Talkies. The four directors might once again come back together after sometime to redo the magic that they are trying to create.

The various aspects of this creation will be angst given by Banerjee to the flick, Anurag will instill madness and insanity into the film, Zoya will put creative freedom and KJo will add music and emotional quotient to it. A perfect recipe for a hit it seems.

Other directors apart from KJo while delving upon their films talked about how their contribution would be. Anurag stated that his film is all about the experiences people have when they come to Amchi Mumbai for the first time. The feelings, the fears, the freedom, all included.

Zoya added that she agreed to be a part of the Bombay Talkies on one condition that she will be allowed to do it her way and she said that she has been given the go ahead.

Dibakar stated that emotions were what he wanted to portray. He said that tears will roll out of your eyes. Marathi language has been used in his film to add that regional touch.

On May 3 Bombay Talkies will hit the screens and it will mark 100 years of Indian cinema that began a humble beginning with Raja Harishchandra. It was on this day that this first full-length feature film, was unveiled to audience in 1913.

Bombay Talkies will be a collection of short films, we are yet to know that out of the four who makes a mark, after all they are the who’s-who of Bollywood.

KJo talked about the film at a panel discussion on ’100 years of Cinema and beyond’ at FICCI Frames.

With KJo showing his exceptional love and penchant for Bombay Talkies, does this mean that there will be a Bombay Talkies-2? Probably, because he clearly quoted that he would love to make a sequel of the film for which the four might get back together again.

With four first-rate directors lining up to make this film that marks 100 years of cinema, it seems that the flick will be a treat to the eyes of the audience. The way you anticipate Bombay Talkies, similarly, even we can’t wait to get a glimpse of what our four super directors have in store for Bollywood.

Because when it comes to these directors, it is like ‘naam hi kaafi hai’.
