New Delhi/ Patna: Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s aircraft suffered a security scare when his chartered plane suffered technical snag and it had to be turned back from election rally he was set to address in Samastipur and other cities nearby. The president of the leading opposition party, Rahul Gandhi, tweeted a short video as to what was happening on the aircraft, expressing regret that the people awaiting for his speeches will have to endure severe heat for many more hours.
Questions have been raised over the security arrangements for Rahul Gandhi who heads the Congress. The Congress president, according to reports, was scheduled to address a public rally in Bihar’s Samastipur at 10:30 am. Nonetheless, the technical snag in the small chartered plane has forced the organizers to reschedule the rally. In the tweet that has gone viral since then Rahul Gandhi said that the aircraft had suffered some engine trouble in the course of the flight.
His tweet read, “Engine trouble on our flight to Patna today! We’ve been forced to return to Delhi. Today’s meetings in Samastipur (Bihar), Balasore (Orissa) & Sangamner (Maharashtra) will run late. Apologies for the inconvenience”.
Reports from Congress’ media department said that the party’s national president was set to address a public rally in Bihar’s Samastipur at 10:30 am, but due to the engine trouble in his flight, the programme has been delayed. After Samastipur, Gandhi is scheduled to address rallies in Odisha’s Balasore and Maharashtra’s Sangamner.
It is not the first time when Rahul has suffered such midair scare. Last year in the same month too he and his supporters’ flight suffered “unexplained technical failures” midair.
