Apple sells more than a billion units of iPhone
Apple has finally revealed to the world that it has crossed a major milestone. The Cupertino based tech giant Apple said that its iconic smartphone iPhone has crossed one billion iPhone sale mark.
NVO News in a report a couple of days had claimed that it has been able to sell more than a billion units of iPhone in the market thus far. Given the fact that iPhone is among the best and most expensive smartphone in the market, this is without doubt a major accomplishment for the Cupertino based Apple.
Apple has been witnessing continuous slide in iPhone sale for the last several months. And the latest news seems to have come as a big boost for the Cupertino based tech giant. Nonetheless the slide is all set to be a thing of past as Apple is preparing to launch the next version of iPhone in late August or early September.
While making the announcement Apple CEO Tim Cook in a statement said, “IPhone has become one of the most important, world-changing and successful products in history”.
The statement went on to add “It’s become more than a constant companion. IPhone is truly an essential part of our daily life and enables much of what we do throughout the day. Last week we passed another major milestone when we sold the billionth iPhone. We never set out to make the most, but we’ve always set out to make the best products that make a difference.”
iPhone sale has been sharply down over the last few months. The company could sell only 40.4 million iPhones in the quarter ending June 25, down 15 percent from a year earlier, highlighting concerns over growth for the iconic smartphone. The quarterly results underscored the challenges for Apple, which has built a huge business around the iPhone but is unlikely to see continued growth, due to a saturated smartphone market and increased competition.
