The new iPhone is already making rounds, though in rumors. Various sources have churned out a handful of rumors about the upcoming edition of next generation Apple smart-phone. It is also speculated that there would be a cheaper iPhone variant apart from the regular update this time. Anyway, here is our rumor roundup of the next generation iPhone, which may come out at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference in June 2013.

A Cheaper iPhone: Japanese mobile blog Macotakara has lately reported that Apple is working on a cheaper 4.5-inch polycarbonate iPhone. It will be coming with an LCD display and other nice specs. “A new iPhone design with a polycarbonate body similar to Apple’s legacy entry-level MacBook may be released at a targeted price of $330,” says Apple Insider referring to the Japan blog, which also reported that there would be a regular iPhone upgrade as well.

In fact, the polycarbonate body will give more durability for the new iPhone. Apart from aluminum and glass, it will give more thickness to the device so that it will be more solid. Along with this, it would help Apple reduce the price of the gadget, which may be $330 SIM free. In spite of those changes for cost cutting, the new iPhone is to come with its typical home button, LCD display and other features.

Release Date: Release date of the new iPhone is also a matter of conflict among rumor mills. Recently, Apple Insider has said that the iPhone 5S would find light in August this year. Usually, Apple announces upgrades to iPhone at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June and begins shipping it very next month. But, last year, Apple shipped the current iPhone only in October, around three months after its announcement.

Apple Inside also noted that Foxconn would exclusively build iPhone 5S. “The report suggests that Foxconn will also be the exclusive manufacturer of Apple’s next-generation iPhone 5S. It was not indicated that Pegatron had received any orders for the company’s next flagship handset,” writes Apple Insider.

128GB Version: The current iPhone is available in three standard memory versions; 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. In a while, Apple launched 128GB variant for iPad and Samsung unveiled a 128GB chip for mobile phones. That is, the mobile market is slowly moving to 128GB built-in memory from the current standard of 64GB. Can we expect an iPhone 5S with such a huge memory option? Some rumors think so. If they are true, we will get an iPhone 5S or 6 with huge built-in memory.

Larger Display: Apple should redesign display screen of the new iPhone. The current version of the phone has a 4-inch display, different from its older version’s 3.5-inch size. But, to fight with the new line of FullHD phablets, Apple should consider enhancing screen size of its next version iPhone. Well, as noted by some rumors, it should be at least 4.5-inch. Otherwise, there will be a subdued response to the device since the overall trend in market is lenient towards large screen phones.

To Fight Galaxy S4: The new iPhone will have more tough competitors in market this time around. It will have to take on the new line of FHD handsets with quad core processors and 1080p and larger displays. The latest version of the Apple smartphone’s top Android rival the Galaxy S is all set to come with a larger 4.9-inch FHD sAMOLED display and other greater specs. In order to compete with the rumored S4 and other Android rivals, Apple should bring many enhancements to its new iPhone.

The entire mobile market is now waiting for the next iPhone version. Losing some impetus in global market recently, the iPhone 5 is not in a good state. It has been beaten by Samsung Galaxy S3 in sales in the late period of last year and early this year. Moreover, Apple will have to face off the new BlackBerry OS based devices like BlackBerry Z10 this year.
