While India seems to be in great form right now, the Indian side cannot take the islanders lightly. The match is going to be a test of nerves for the Indian batsmen and bowlers as well.

The last match that India played against Pakistan might have been a damp squib in more ways than one, nonetheless India’s top order was tested by Mohammad Amir who bowled as if it was test of his nerves. At 25, despite being out of the game for five years, he remains as potent or more than what he was.

Someone seems to have rightly said that the five years out of cricket might have been good for him. Now in the prime of his youth he can sustain the pressure of international cricket than a teenager that he was.dhoni 1

To be true, the last match would have gone either way except for Virat Kohli. He is such an exceptional player and has evolved so well, that he has become the bedrock of Indian batting. He is all the more useful in sub continental condition, though produces results everywhere in the world.

In the meantime India got an upper hand in today’s match as Dhoni won the toss and asked islanders to bat first. Sri Lanka were without Lasith Malinga for the second successive game, as India won the toss and chose to bowl on a Dhaka surface topped with a layer of short grass. Angelo Mathews, who stepped in as captain again, said he would have liked to bowl first as well. Malinga’s absence is a big drawback for the Lankan side.

A good news for the Indian team is the fact that Shikhar Dhawan has returned to the top of India’s order after recovering from injury. He displaced Ajinkya Rahane from the XI. India were otherwise unchanged from the side that defeated Pakistan on Saturday. There is no denying the fact that Lankan team is not settled after spate of losses. They lost their first T20 to Bangladesh on Sunday, but opted to retain the XI from that match – Thisara Perera was given another game. How the team will perform will be seen in the next few hours.
