Immigration reform new 2015: Donald Trump plan will cost hundreds of billions of dollars
Donald Trump is one of a kind. So are some of his policy proposals.
He is the biggest foe of undocumented immigrants in the US and has aggressive views on their presence in the US. Even going by the standards of Republicans and their animosity towards undocumented immigrants, he is in a class of his own.
Donald Trump who is one of more than a dozen GOP aspirants dreaming to become the next US president has toughest stand against undocumented immigrants. Merely a few weeks ago he crossed all the limits of decency when he undocumented Mexican immigrants as ‘criminals and rapists’.
Now he has come out with almost an unworkable plan to stop the flow of undocumented immigrants into the US. His latest plan include building a wall on the southern border and wants our Southern neighbors namely Mexico to pay for it.
If that was not enough he says that the US should extradite all the undocumented immigrants at blazing fast speed and then bringing them back legally.
But the whole concept seem to be faulty and it may cost US hundreds of billions of dollars. Besides fencing the whole US-Mexico border will make any sort of cooperation with Mexico almost impossible.
A senior official says that things don’t really look very rosy as far as this plan is concerned. Marc Rosenblum, the deputy director for the U.S. Immigration Policy Program at the Migration Policy Institute says that costs would be exorbitant. He goes on to say that fencing can cost more than four times the average cost of fencing more populated areas. In one instance, it cost $58 million for three and a half miles in difficult terrain in the San Diego sector, Rosenblum said.
Merely the fencing would cost upwards of $20 billion. Rosenblum further says, “I think that it’s possible, but it would prove to be extraordinarily expensiveâ€.
