Immigration reform 2015: Who is behind failure of Obama executive order, they need to be punished
Immigration reform seems to have suffered permanent damage due to the irresponsible behavior of Republicans. They have gone all out against a segment of population that is not just serving the US, but also has a large support base across the country.
Many experts believe that this mindless opposition to the immigration reform is going to cost Republicans dearly.
Following President Obama’s executive order, there was unprecedented enthusiasm among the undocumented immigrants and activists working for the immigration reform. But the Republicans threw cold water on any such hope when it went to the court and got injunction against President Barack Obama’s executive order.
But apparently Republicans, despite all their efforts, are not going to succeed in stopping the immigration reform. This would have been one of the best time for undocumented immigrants as it was the day when DAPA was set to begin for undocumented parents of children born in the U.S.
Now many Democrat officials are going to come out on roads across the US in support of President Obama. Local leaders said that they are going to support and help undocumented immigrants prepare for the process to eventually get work permits and other rights in the United States. Democrat local leaders’ announcement marked the day the Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents program was to begin taking applications.
Now a coalition of such activists under the banner of Cities United for Immigration Action, is going all out to help Obama. They are going to hold protests and awareness campaigns in many big US cities including New York City, Boston, Denver and Los Angeles.
While countering Republican move, as many as 70 pro-immigration reform cities and counties in Cities United filed a friend-of-the-court brief in April, calling for the executive actions to be implemented. In a press release the coalition said, “CUIA is a coalition of city governments that stands in support of stronger cities through immigration action. Through CUIA, America’s mayors are shaping the national debate, working together to welcome and embrace new immigrants in support of the president’s executive action on immigrationâ€.
