Immigration Reform 2015 news: Caught with border patrol agent’s fake driver’s license, birth certificate etc
Amidst the cacophony on immigration reform, a latest arrest shows as to how illegal immigrants are using dubious means to first enter the US and then live there using stolen identities.
U.S. national security officials in Texas were taken aback when they found almost complete set of documents belonging to a fellow Border Patrol agent. This was something that they hadn’t bargained for in this manner.
To further look like the Border Patrol, agent, this illegal immigrant had shaved his head as well. This man was actually using the name and documents of the border guard and had in his possession his driver’s license, birth certificate and Social Security card. Al of these documents were in the name of the agent.
This 24-year old Mexican was later recognized as Orlando Castaneda-Diaz. Local media suggests that he was travelling on a Houston-bound bus when he was stopped around 1 a.m. officials suggest that he told them later that he had purchased all the documents in Mexico for a huge $2,000 before illegally crossing the border April 12.
Now he is in a local prison and faces charges of making a false claim to U.S. citizenship. He was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday for a detention hearing. But reports suggest that now fewer immigrants are crossing from Mexico into the United States, federal data show. Roughly 98,000 people were caught illegally entering the U.S. through Mexico during the first four months of the current fiscal year. In 2000, agents stopped 1.6 million people along the Mexican border.
