All of them come with great specs, nonetheless HTC One X Plus, HTC One X, Droid DNA despite coming with best specs failed to lift HTC. But now HTC CEO says that the worst is over

HTC cites poor marketing as the reason for its bad performance last year. Talking to The Wall Street Journal, HTC CEO Peter Chou has stated that insufficient marketing threw out the company from competition. HTC has failed to promote its products and services due to worse marketing, while its competitors like Samsung could outstandingly do well in this area, says the HTC CEO.

“Our competitors were too strong and very resourceful, pouring in lots of money into marketing. We haven’t done enough on the marketing front,” he added in his interview with the WSJ. As per the new comScore figures of top mobile OEMs, HTC was in the fifth position behind the firms like Samsung, Apple, Motorola and LG. The figures, which are based on mobile sales from August to November 2012 in the U.S., reveal that HTC has only 6.3 percent share in mobile market of the country.

Mr. Chou openly laments that his company doesn’t have enough money to defy its rivals in marketing. Anyway, he is of the belief that hard times of the firm have passed. “He said that the “the worst for HTC has probably passed” and that 2013 will be “not too bad,” Engadget writes. This year, the market expects a range of new and advanced handsets from HTC. As per rumors, HTC is expected to roll out a variety of handsets apart from its recent flagship phone the DROID DNA.

This year also, the Taiwan mobile maker wants to concentrate more on innovation rather than marketing. “HTC’s CEO said that he’ll place his bet on innovation for this year, and not so much on marketing, hoping that consumers will appreciate the great products,” writes GSMArena. As we can learn from fresh rumors, HTC is likely to unveil a couple of powerful handsets early this year. Anyway, here we check key phones HTC rolled out in the past year.

HTC One Series: The HTC One series of phones came out of cover in February 2012. The devices include three models; One X, One S and One V. They are respectively the flagship, midrange and low-level handsets. The One X is a 4.7-inch handset with Nvidia Tegra 3 quad core processor, 1GB RAM and 8MP rear camera. This phone later received two different variants; One XL and One X+ for various markets. One S and One V are also two nice smartphones from the company.

HTC Desire Series: Mid 2012, HTC surfaced its Desire series of entry-level Android handsets. They mainly include Desire X, Desire V and Desire C. The V and X sport 4-inch displays with moderate pixel resolutions and innards; while the Desire C is up with a rather small 3.5-inch display. They are all Android 4.0 ICS handsets and are upgradeable to the new Android Jelly Bean update.

HTC 5-inch FHD Handsets: Late 2012, HTC unleashed its first FullHD phablet the J Butterfly in Japan. It is a Japan-exclusive device, but the company brought its specs, features and specialties to the U.S. market via DROID DNA, a Verizon-exclusive phablet from HTC. Indeed, Butterfly and DNA are two of the first row of 1080p handsets in global market.

HTC looks for great sales for these two phones. But, competition in 1080p FHD market is going further intense. Following HTC, a host of firms is to surface their models of FullHD handsets. Samsung, LG, Huawei and ZTE are about to introduce their 1080p phablets in near future. As well, many low-price handsets with the same potentials can be expected from lots of tech firms. They will ultimately raise competition to HTC and its existing and new products at the fray.
