Himachal wins three Awards


    Shimla: Three Himachal Pradesh Government projects have won Web Ratna Gold Icon Awards under different categories. All the three awards are for NIC initiatives for the State Government in the field of Information Technology. These Awards are an initiative to acknowledge the exemplary initiatives in eGovernance using the medium of World Wide Web.
    These awards were conferred by Shri Thiru A. Raja, Union Minister of Communications and Information Technology in an exclusive award presentation ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi recently.
    In Citizen Centric Services, O.C. Thakur, Inspector General, CID, HP Police and Ashok Sharma, Inspector General, Southern Range, HP Police represented the Police Department alongwith  Rajesh Bahadur, SIO, NIC Himachal and Praveen Sharma, Assistant Programmer. The Himachal Pradesh Police portal at hppolice.nic.in has been set up to facilitate interaction between the public and police, providing the citizens a platform to interact with police effectively and efficiently. HIMPOL provides facilities like online payment of traffic Challans, online complaint or information to the Police Stations and FIR. The portal has lots of other information for the public and its officers. The website has helped the public in becoming more self-assertive and the police more responsible.
    In Comprehensive Web Presence of State, B.K. Aggarwal, Resident Commissioner who remained Principal Secretary, Information Technology to the Government of Himachal Pradesh earlier, received the Award alongwith the NIC Himachal Team comprising of Shri Rajesh Bahadur, SIO Ajay Singh Chahal, Technical Director, Sanjay Sharma, Principal Systems Analyst and Vijay Kumar Gupta, Principal Systems Analyst.
    The web portal of the Himachal Pradesh at himachal.nic.in has always been at the forefront in terms of providing information and services to the citizens through the Internet. It is an endeavour by different departments to disseminate information and deliver services to citizens, businesses, employees, and special interest groups. It is an outstanding attempt to integrate various processes of different departments in web space.
    In NIC Coordinator of the National Portal, Ajay Singh Chahal, Technical Director received the award for NIC Coordinator of National Portal for ensuring an effective and sustained contribution of information on the National Portal of India.
