Himachal to lay emphasis on Export


    Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Govt. would organise series of seminars and meetings in collaboration with Ministry of Commerce to lay emphasis to promote export of goods and services from the State announced by State Chief Minister Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal to a High-level delegation of Federation of Indian Export organizations which called on him at New Delhi under the leadership of its Chairman Dr. R.K. Dhawan.
    Prof. Dhumal said that first such seminar would be organized at Parwanoo in Solan district for the industrialists of Solan district shortly and its dates will be announced soon. He said that his Govt. would lay more emphasis on export promotion due to its inherent benefits like employment generation, capacity building, economic development and quality enhancement etc.
    Chief Minister lauded the idea of organizations to organize exclusive buyer seller meet in Shimla where-in Himachal based companies could display their products to Non-Resident Indians, foreign buyers, Indian merchant exporters and buying houses so as to have better chances of marketing of Himachali products in national and international markets. He also asked the organizations to come out with an exporters directory for products and services of the State highlighting the full strength of the state potential. He also favoured to organise Himachal Pradesh focussed exhibitions in different parts of developed countries to promote Himachali products as separate brand in the international market and asked the organisations to put a detailed proposal to the govt. in this regard. He agreed with the suggestion to institute awards for companies having outstanding export contributions from State.
    Dr. R.K. Dhawan, Chairman, Federation of Indian Export Organizations offered that organisation can provide its website to provide online chat services to the Himachali exporters so as to help address or guide exporters grievances on day-to day basis. He said that organisation can also take note of exporters grievances centrally through its website and forward it collectly to the State Govt. for its time-bound solutions. He requested the State Govt. to appoint a nodal officer who could co-ordinate with organisations on all issues relating to the problems of the exporters of the State.
    Sunil Agnihotri, Director of the Federation and other senior officers were also present on the occasion among others.
