Nahan: Just before the code of conduct for parliament polls the state government has issued a notification for the opening the degree college at Haripurdhar which would a 4th degree college in the transs giri area of Sirmour district.

Actually Chief Minister Prof Prem Kumar Dhumal was to address a public meeting at Haripurdhar on Sunday but the helicopter was not landed due to high velocity winds at Haripurdhar.Later Chief Minister had addressed the public meeting through mobile phone. Sources said that though Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal had not given indication for the opening of Degree College at Haripurdhar but later has given a surprising gift for the people of the area. BJP was looking to penetrate in the traditional vote bank of the area in this visit of the Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal in ensuing parliament polls. Local congress leaders had joined the BJP in last assembly polls with the allegation of discrimination of the area in the development.

Sources said that though the notification was issued on the same day when the code of conduct was imposed but education department was no confusion over it. Sources said that the notification was issued before the announcement of code of conduct in the country. Interestingly the BJP leaders feared to take the credit of this notification due to the code of conduct but were trying hard to procure the copy of notification. It is worthwhile to mention here that BJP government had de notified the notification of previous congress government of opening a degree college at Sarhan in home constituency of congress stalwart Gangu ram Mussfair.During the chief Minister tour on 22nd February at Sarhan the people were accepting the announcement of degree college at Sarhan.

On the other hand when contacted, Secretary Education P.C. Dhiman confirmed the notification and added that there was no confusion over the notification regarding the code of conduct. He said that the notification was issued before the announcement of code of conduct.
