Green Tree Foundation plants trees in Hadi Hasan
Aligarh: The Aligarh Muslim University Proctor, Dr Mohd Asif Khan planted trees in the Hadi Hasan Hall, AMU premises to kick-start annual plantation drive, which is a part and continuation of â€˜Green Tree Foundationâ€™ initiative, started in 2014.
During the occasion, Aligarh Muslim University Vice Chancellor, Lt General Zameer Uddin Shah (retd) said it is his mission to make Aligarh Muslim University a green university.
While planting the trees, Dr Mohd Asif Khan said that the main objective of this foundation is tree plantation and the mission is to galvanize every citizen of India to plant at least one sapling in their life time.
He whole heartedly promised to participate in the plantation drive starting next month.
The co-founders of the â€˜Green Tree Foundationâ€™ drive, Dr Mohd Najmul Islam, Assistant Professor, Womenâ€™s Polytechnic and Mr Mohd Asim uz Zafar Khan, Senior Technical Assistant (STA), Department of Microbiology, JNMC confirmed that since the start of the plantation drive in August 15, 2014, more than 100 saplings have been successfully planted in J N Medical College.
They further confirmed that the target is to plant at least five lakh saplings during the fresh venture. â€œWe expect a huge participation from the universityâ€™s Teaching and Non-Teaching community,â€ they added.
Prof Haris M Khan, Medical Suprintendent, JNMC Hospital, Dr Mehar Rizvi and Dr Adil Raza also support the Foundation. Meanwhile, the main team members of the drive are Dr Ashraf Imam, Mr Jahagir Chauhan , Imran Ahmad, Azad, Amir, Gulshan and other staff members of JN Medical College.
The members of the plantation drive have said that every day the â€˜Green Tree Foundationâ€™ is enlisting a new member.
