The high-end mobile market is growing rather competitive. Ahead of the year-end Christmas holiday season, all major tech makers have produced their latest flagship models. Here we compare the premium handsets of all leading tech firms, Google, Apple, Samsung and Sony, in other words, the Nexus 5 Vs iPhone 5S Vs Galaxy Note 3 Vs Xperia Z1 battle.

Display: All models have quality display screen. The new Nexus 5 is up with a big 4.95-inch True HD IPS screen with FullHD resolution at 445-ppi. The iPhone 5S has a 4-inch Retina LED IPS LCD screen, packing a resolution of 640 x 1136 pixels at 326-ppi. Among the devices in debate, the iPhone 5S has the smallest display, which is also less in resolution.

Sony’s recent flagship the Z1 is equipped with a big 5-inch TFT panel that also highlights 1080p resolution at 441-ppi. In the end, the Galaxy Note 3 is the biggest of the quadruple with a massive 5.7-inch FullHD Super AMOLED screen that packs a pixel density of 386-ppi. In short, only the new iPhone 5S misses out FullHD, but it has Retina display to balance it.

Processor, RAM: Onboard the devices, we indeed have good stuffs for better power. The new Nexus 5 and Xperia Z1 are enhanced by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 chipset-based quad core processors. The former has a 2.3GHz CPU, while the latter one slots in a 2.2GHz one.

The Note 3 also has a variant with the same S800, but it also has an Exynos 5 Octa 5420 variant with a quad core processor of 2.3GHz. In terms of system memory, the new models of Nexus and Xperia have 2GB RAM, while Galaxy Note 3 lodges a rather bigger 3GB RAM. Graphics processor inside all three handsets is Adreno 330 GPU.

The new iPhone 5S, on the other hand, mounts Apple’s natively designed A7 chipset, which is the first mobile chip made out of 64-bit architecture. It works inside a dual core 1.3 GHz Cyclone  processor in support of 1GB RAM and a PowerVR G6430 (quad-core graphics) GPU.

Internal Memory: Nexus 5 is slated to appear in 16GB and 32GB flavors in case of built-in memory. The new iPhone 5S is available in all standard onboard memory capacities as does the Galaxy Note 3, which are 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. It is when the Xperia Z1 is available only in 64GB. The Note 3 and Xperia Z1 however tout the option for memory expansion.

Firmware: Various operating systems or versions run the handsets. The new LG-made Nexus 5 has just rolled out by premiering Google’s brand new Android 4.4 KitKat. Meanwhile, iPhone 5S debuted Apple’s fresh and the best ever update iOS 7. The Xperia Z1 features Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, while Note 3 has the latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean variant out of box.

Cameras: Of course, all models have magnificent rear cameras as well as front facing sensors. If you check, you can find that the Xperia Z1 is the best of the group with a wonderful 20.7 MP auto-focus camera, because it is a special cameraphone offering from Sony. The new iPhone 5S has the same 8MP iSight sensor, but with a lot more improved features.

The Note 3 has a massive 13MP sensor that can take video at 2160p@30fps and 1080p@60fps on different models of the device respectively called the N9005 and N9002. Just like iPhone 5S, Nexus 5 also has a regular 8MP sensor. When it comes to front snappers, the iPhone 5S, Nexus 5S, Galaxy Note 3 and Z1 sport 1.2MP, 1.3MP, 2MP and 2MP sensors respectively.
