B.K.S. Iyengar’s 97th Birthday is being celebrated by Yoga enthusiasts across the globe. If there is one person who is credited with making the Indian Yoga a craze across the world, it is he and no one else.

While many people were remembering him across the world on his 97th birthday, but what made his name and yoga go viral on this particular day is actually a Google Doodle.

There is no denying the fact that Google Doodle actually reminds us of many people, facts and other occasions of historic importance that many of us wouldn’t have otherwise remembered.

Google’s latest doodle is remarkable. And the interactive doodle shows the renowned master in various yoga poses within Google’s logo and is meant to characterize the “tremendous control and discipline, which he exercised in ways not limited to confoundingly long headstands,” the company said.

Iyengar is actually recognized as the sage who introduced the world, especially the West to the ancient Indian tradition — primarily through his tutelage of famous violinist Yehudi Menuhin.
